In order to use the Law of Attraction deliberately in your life to its fullest potential, and tap in to that inner wisdom that will flow forth from Source. In fact, I could write a whole book just about alignment and I may well do that some day. For now, we'll have to make do with these short articles.
In developing a routine of regular "meditation" (or relaxation or prayer or whatever you want to call it), in which you have begun by stating your intention to align with your inner (or higher) self, you will begin to be more and more in tune with your inner self in daily life. You should look for this in your daily routine and begin to listen. Start your morning, while you are still lying in bed, by saying, "It is my firm intention to be aligned today and to listen to my inner voice." Being clear about what your intentions are is vital for any progress - not only for using Law of Attraction but for life. State your intention and then let it go.
As you go along throughout your day, get into the practice of taking your "emotional temperature", meaning just stop from time to time and ask yourself how you feel. The point of this exercise is to get you used to tuning into your inner guidance, which, for most people comes in the form of emotional feedback. How do you feel? Once you stop and ask yourself, you may find that you are spinning your wheels in thoughts of negativity. You may be reliving a confrontation or encounter you had at some point - long ago or recently. You may be thinking about something you need to say to someone or you may be creating to do lists in your mind.
The fact is that, for the most part, humans think the same thoughts over and over and over again every single day. Very few thoughts are actually new thoughts. Most thoughts are on automatic pilot and we think them without even being aware of it. There is nothing wrong with that in principle (our brains are designed to function this way) except that most of us think very many negative thoughts or thoughts that simply don't serve us a great deal of the time.
You have probably already heard that you need to take responsibility for the thoughts you think in order to use the Law of Attraction beneficially in your life and that the easiest way to do this is to listen to your emotions. This is absolutely true in my experience. The way you feel at any moment in time is your DIRECT and EASY ACCESS communication from your inner self letting you know if you are in alignment or not. Your emotional temperature IS your inner self talking to you. So, the fact is that your inner guidance is communicating with you ALL THE TIME, it's just that most of us aren't listening. Therefore, it is good to begin a daily meditation practice in order to set forth the intention to align and to develop your "listening ear". You want to spend a little bit of time every day exercising that "listening muscle" and then go into the rest of your day with the intention to listen.
In the beginning, developing awareness of and sensitivity to our thoughts and emotions is difficult because we run almost exclusively on automatic pilot and we are not in the habit of taking our emotional temperature. So, you will want to set up structures that will remind you at certain points throughout the day. Set up pop-up reminders in your email program, leave notes for yourself in the fridge or in the bathroom. Set up structures where you will be prompted periodically throughout the day to ask yourself how you feel.
Next, take the answer seriously. Either you feel expanded or you feel contracted. There are lots of different names for different emotions that fall into these two broad categories, but essentially you will be feeling one or the other. Either empowered or disempowered, joyful or fretful. When you get into the habit of asking yourself how you feel, in time it will become easy to recognize which mode you are in. If you are not in the expanded mode, then stop, take a deep breath and bring yourself back into expanded mode. Just think of your favorite thing, your favorite song, get your favorite picture in your mind and stay there for a while.
You will have to practice this prompting technique for quite a while in order for it to become a habit, but it is one of the BEST things you can do for yourself to change your mode of vibration to a higher level - meaning getting more aligned!
